Banham Receives Secured by Design Award

Banham in Secured By Design. Press Release.

On the 6th of January 2010 Banham Security received the Secured by Design Award for our high security locks, a selection of our grilles, shutters and safes. We are the first company to win this award for safes.

Banham Security was founded in 1926 by William Banham who invented the first automatic bolt lock and went on to become a pioneer in the production of high quality locks. We are now the largest installer of security products in the capital. For five years we have won the coveted Metropolitan Police Gold Alarm award for our achievements in False Alarm Management. No other company has ever achieved such an outstanding result.

We are members of the Master Locksmiths Association, The National Security Inspectorate and are included on the police approved list of alarm installers. The addition of the Secured By Design Award complements our already impressive certification list and allows us to compete in new markets.

Our high security locks are sold and registered to their owners giving an extra level of security. Extra keys will only be cut following our strict registration procedures. These security locks have a reputation of being among the best in the market place staying in place even when the surrounding door is demolished.

Secured by Design is an initiative by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) that aims to reduce crime through effective environmental design. The scheme certifies that products used are installed to meet police –approved standards. The SBD logo is the only symbol that guarantees national Police approval of a product providing architects, planners, builders and end customers with reassurance that the product will withstand a realistic level of resistance to an attack.

Gaining SBD approval for some of our products is a significant achievement and demonstrates Banham’s on going commitment to keep our products at the forefront of the security industry.
