What you’ll learn from our counter-terrorism training

The five-day course is designed and run by Steve Park, a former Metropolitan Police Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Officer, who specialises in close protection, counter terrorism and conflict management.

Day 1

Module 1: Awareness

  • Counter terrorism law and legislation
  • Terrorist ideologies, aims, beliefs and motivations
  • Emerging trends and case studies
  • Radicalisation
  • Profiling

Day 2

Module 2: Skills and Knowledge

  • IED and weapons awareness
  • Searching techniques (including practical)
  • Dealing with suspicious packages
  • Hostile overt and covert reconnaissance

Day 3

Module 3: Reducing the Risk

  • Risk management and threat assessment
  • Emergency and evacuation planning
  • Dynamic lock-down and security procedures

Day 4

Module 4: Planning and Preparation

  • Assignment brief
  • Pre-exercise planning

Day 5

Module 5: Practical and Assessment

  • Multiple choice test (20 questions)
  • Practical exercise

Alongside the written and practical tests, assessments will be conducted through observation and portfolio. The learner will be provided with a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.
