Level 3 Security Systems Apprenticeship: Spark Your Career Today
Banham’s Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Apprenticeship has sizeable benefits for anyone who undertakes it, regardless of age. The course gives you world-class on-the-job training with Britain’s most esteemed security professionals, and grants you access to Banham Academy’s state-of-the-art facilities for the classroom-based element of the apprenticeship.
Most importantly of all, our apprenticeship will set you up with the skills you will need for further study, or for further advancing your career as a security systems technician. There are several direct ways the Banham Academy apprenticeship can benefit your career—from the skills you learn to the experience you gain on the job.
Learn level 3 skills while you work
Our apprenticeship will give you knowledge and practical skills of security systems and electricals to an NVQ level 3 standard while you earn money. Instead of gaining an NVQ level 3 through the course, the apprenticeship itself acts as an equivalent-level qualification for all intents and purposes.
Rather than learning purely from books and practice scenarios in a classroom, our level 3 electrical apprenticeship will teach you the same skills as the NVQ level 3 through hands-on, real-world experience, all while you are earning an apprentice’s wage.
Level 3 electrical subjects your apprenticeship will cover include:
- health & safety
- environmental legislation
- installation practices
- working practices
- conductor, cable and cord connection
- installation, design and maintenance of electrical systems
Move onto NVQ level 5 electrical & NVQ level 4 electrical
After completing the Banham apprenticeship, you will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and experience to pursue the much sought-after NVQ level 4 & 5 electrical certificates. In most cases, moving onto level 4 & 5 NVQs requires level 3 knowledge and practical experience in the field. Your apprenticeship with Banham Academy will leave you well-prepared in both of these areas.
These further NVQ courses will teach you everything you need to know to reach a more senior position in your line of work, or to advance to a university-level electrical engineering course.
Those continuing their studies to take these level 4 & 5 NVQs can learn:
- CAD skills
- management skills
- planning techniques
- contract procedures
- electrical installation science
NVQ assessments involve both written and practical elements, both of which will usually be focussed on installation-based projects. This means candidates who have completed a Banham apprenticeship—and have therefore already learned the ins and outs of installation —will be at a distinct advantage over others competing for places on the same courses.
Specialise in Fire, Emergency and Security Systems
Specialisation is another of the Banham Academy apprenticeship’s greatest advantages. While a conventional, classroom-based NVQ level 3 will give students a broad base of electrical knowledge and capabilities, Banham’s Fire, Emergency and Security Systems apprenticeship will also impart techniques that are specific to the security industry.
Upon completing an apprenticeship with Banham Academy, you will have NVQ level 3-equivalent electrical skills, as well as knowledge and experience relating specifically to fire, emergency, and security alarm systems. This specialism and field experience will put you in prime position to begin working in the security industry right away. With the Banham apprenticeship behind you, you will be ready to advance your career as a security systems installer or fire alarm technician in no time.
