Trainee Maintenance Engineer

Job Title: Trainee Maintenance Engineer
Department: Alarms Corrective and Preventative Maintenance Department
Location: Our Head Office is based at 20 Thornsett Road, Wandsworth, SW18 4EF
Reporting to: Maintenance & Service Manager

We are currently seeking trainee engineers to join us. Full on-the-job training will be provided.

Once training has been successfully completed and you are able to demonstrate working independently, you will be provided with a company vehicle and PDA.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Daily work will include; Attending maintenance inspections with your allocated engineer. They will be teaching you how to carry out maintenance inspections whilst attending customer properties.
  • Understand the importance of GDPR and the protection of sensitive customer information
  • Work closely with supervising Maintenance Engineer ensuring that allocation of tasks and priorities are communicated effectively, and all tasks completed to company standards
  • Provide excellent customer service, understanding customer’s expectations and requirements, presenting a positive and professional image to customers at all times
  • Communicate with the Maintenance Desk, keeping on top of daily and weekly schedule and ensuring your time is managed efficiently
  • Carry out reasonable requests from management
  • Undertake independent work, when asked by your allocated engineer
  • Consistently operate in a professional manner, providing reliable and quality service to customers and maintaining good communication with colleagues
  • Complete engineer paperwork and PDA reports ensuring that it is correctly completed, and procedures are followed within the required timescales
  • Work in line with the Company’s quality management system, industry standards and regulations and Health & Safety policy

Preferred Skills

  • A good working knowledge of intruder alarms preferred however full training given. Experience in the wider product range; CCTV, entry and access control systems and fire alarms also advantage but not essential as training will be given
  • Knowledge of electrical components such as relays and resistors, as well as ability to read multi-meters, continuity meters etc and be able to take and record readings
  • Basic IT knowledge, e.g. software installation into Windows Operating Systems, IP based systems and networking principles
  • Demonstrate interest and basic knowledge of regulatory standards
  • Previous face to face customer service experience
  • Presentable in person, vehicle and tools 
  • Exemplary attendance and absence record
  • Valid driving licence
